Marie Heil

Education Advocate

Marie has sixteen years experience as a Special Education teacher and has worked with students in grades K-12 with special needs ranging from learning, physical, emotional, and intellectual disabilities, as well as those on the autism spectrum. After leaving the classroom, she became a dedicated special education advocate who partners with parents to navigate the complex and emotional path that is the special education process.

In 2014, Marie cofounded MAD Skills, L.L.P. (madskillsdfw.com), an agency with a mission to Motivate students to make positive changes, Advocate to meet their needs and Develop skills to achieve success. By mastering their strengths, students can learn to overcome challenges and successfully transition into different stages of their lives.

Marie lives in the Dallas/Fort Worth area with her husband Aaron and their three daughters. Because Aaron is also a special education teacher, the two share an intense passion for teaching students with special needs and guiding families throughout the journey in their underserved Metroplex community. Together they organize the annual Heil's Social Skills and Community Camp, which provides kids with special needs the opportunity to interact with each other and also "neurotypical" kids in order to build skills through role play and games.
