
Marty Cirkiel

Prior to being an attorney in 1991, Mr. Cirkiel was a social worker. He interned at the Travis State School and after graduating with his MSW, he became a clinician at the Brenham State School. In both schools, he worked closly with individuals with severe disabilities and their families.
In 1984 he became the Director of the Williamson County Mental Health Center, which at the time was part of Community Services Department of the Austin State Hospital (the predecessor of Bluebonnet Trails MHMR). He continues to maintain his Social Work Licensure as an Advanced Practitioner.
After earning his law degree, he was hired by the QA Division of the Texas Dept. of MHMR where he investigated patient rights violations in psychiatric facilities. Working closely with the AG’s Office, and later the U.S. Dept. of Justice, he assisted in the litigation of health care fraud claims and deceptive trade practices against private providers. After a brief stint with the Texas Dept. of Health, he became General Counsel for Charter Medical Corp.
In 1995, Mr. Cirkiel began to work in private practice, collaborating with attorneys across Texas in successful litigation of patient rights violations in various mental health facilities. He continues to provide legal servies to all persons but also offers unique services tailored specifically to persons with disabilities in all situations.
"Marty" was born in New York City on April 19, 1950. He has been married to his wife Pam for over thirty years and has two adult children and three grandchildren.
